Age of wonders 3 how to recruit heros2/22/2024 ![]() ![]() You can release the hero to their home empire or Free City.Captured heroes go to the victor's Prison, while killed heroes go to the victor's Crypt. Heroes that are defeated in battle may be captured or killed. Create an outpost (The Barbarian Pioneer can also create outposts but at double the Gold cost and 1 Turn extra).Upon reaching or surpassing said value, two heroes from any such free city will become randomly generated with any related racial traits and potential racial transformations and enter the hero recruitment pool on the next turn. For their heroes to enter the pool you need to have at least 0 (zero) diplomatic relations. Heroes from free cities may appear in the hero recruitment pool, alongside a couple from your own empire. If an empire has as many heroes as it has cities (or more) then each hero will cost an additional 100 Gold to recruit and an additional 30 Gold and 5 Imperium in upkeep. Recruiting a hero costs 100 Gold + 50 for each level. If you really don't want to put money into a hero now, just say Not Now he'll disappear on turn 23 and a new hero will show up naturally around turn 33.Heroes may be recruited via the Hero Overview tab in the top-left (the third from the left of the smaller tabs). So if you can't afford a hero, you have 8 more days to raise the money. turn 26, you get your last applicant who will hang around till turn 28.turn 23, you get a new applicant, who will hang around until turn 25 then say "Different Hero again. ![]() So let's say a hero shows up turn 20, and you can't afford it: You can do that twice after that, the Different Hero button will be grayed out. You can also use the "I need a different type of hero" button on the third turn, and a different hero will show up immediately.You can plan to have 500 Gold for next time (that's the price for a Lvl 5 hero, the highest level the come in).Note also that a hero probably shows up every 10 - 12 turns (I estimate), and they hang around 3 turns, so if you can't afford one: ![]()
